Farewell, And Happy Tails…

Two months ago my husband brought home two pit mix pups that he found wandering around in a very busy intersection. Noah and I were instantly smitten with them. He named the female Lusa and the male Aslan. Both favorite book characters of the month, and they were fitting names as well.

We cared for Lusa and Aslan for a couple of weeks or so until a local adoption center said they could take them in to showcase on the weekends. Aslan was adopted that very first day. With the same temperament as his sister, he was a little more laid back and more unique looking than a mostly black dog. We trekked back and forth, six times a weekend, for several weeks with Lusa until she finally found her forever home.

Fast forward to two weeks ago, when the lovely woman in charge of ReTails called me to tell me Aslan had somehow ended up at Animal Control, and wondered if I could take him in again. Well, of course I can. We took him in and cared for him the first time…I can’t see not helping him again. In the past two weeks, Noah, Squirrel and I have become so incredibly attached to this boy. He’s sweet. He’s funny. He’s loyal. And he’s a damn good dog.

So today, the day that Noah and I have not-so-secretly been dreading, has finally come. Aslan has hopefully found his for real forever home. A 20 year old girl and her dad, with a great big fenced in yard, waiting for a pup to love. I just hope that they love him like we do. Goodbye, Aslan…and hopefully we’ll get one of your kisses on a visit one day!

  1. It’s always hard to say goodbye to them. Bless you for looking after the pups in the first place.

What a great experience for learning compassion and kindness. Lucky doggies! Positive karma or spiritual blessings will come from this kindness.
